1) The South Ural State University has entered in TOP-600 higher education institutions of world professional ranking of Worldwide Professional University Rankings RankPro 2016/2017 (RankPro) for the first time. The rating is issued annually by International council of scientists within the Global World Communicator program. The rank of each higher education institution consists of estimates on three groups of indicators:

1. The academic ranging are the opportunities of university (number and the list of students and scientific teachers of higher education institution).

2. Ranging on the VS-index (BC Index) –the availability of information on the English-language version of the home page of the website of higher education institution.

3. Reputation ranging – ranks of higher education institutions in global and national ratings and results of expert poll of members of the International council of scientists.

This year the world professional ranking of RankPro had included 44 universities from Russia. South Ural State University advances Southern Federal University and Bauman Moscow State Technical University on total point.

2) The assistant professor of the department of "The automated electric drive" of the Southern Ural State University Alexander Nesterov, became the winner of the World Cup in riding sport or races on dogsleds. He has won a silver medal. Competitions took place in Italy, in the ski downtown Lucerne. The race took place at the height level of 1500 meters above sea.
